How do I get a Canadian Bar Code sheet?
You're referring to the Canadian Bar Code link listed under the Helpful Links button. Please contact the agent associated with the load you're interested in. He or she can give you full details about streamlining your border crossings.
You can quickly locate that agent's phone number by typing his or her 3-letter Agency Code into the Agent Directory. You'll find the 3-letter code in the Agency column on your results list.
-
Click on the Agent Directory
button at the top of the Home page.
-
Type the Agency Code into the box under the label "Terminal Code." The system should display basic agency information.
-
Click on the icon in the Details column; it looks like a small
gray sheet of paper. Info such as local phone number, toll-free phone number,
and Web site address (if available) displays.
How do I search for loads?
To begin searching:
-
Click on the Loads
button at the top of the Home page. The Search page displays.
-
Fill in information that relates to the type of load you're looking for. The
more information you enter, the narrower (more specific) your search results
will be. You don't have to fill in every box.
-
Click on the Search button at the bottom of the page to
display a results list.
It's that easy. You can search for particular pick-up and delivery dates, or trailer groups and types. You can
set your search to cover a specific area (radius) around an Origin or
Destination city or state. You can even search for loads from a particular
Landstar Agency.
For more assistance, click on the Help button at the bottom of the Search page.
I'm not getting any search results.
What should I do?
Filling in every field on the page can cause your search to be so specific that
no one load can meet all the requirements. Try keeping your search a bit more
general -- search by Trailer Group instead of Trailer Type, add a State and
leave the Radius at zero. Then, choose a Sort By preference from the drop-down
list and click on the Search button. See if this doesn't give you more of what
you're looking for. (And remember, if your search is too general, you can
always add more information and try again.)
Can I change the way my results list is
sorted?
You certainly can. There is a Sort By field
on the Search page. It's set to sort by Pick-Up Date, but you can select
another option from the drop-down list if you wish, including Origin City or
State, Destination City or State, Delivery Date, Load Weight, or Trailer Group.
To find this field, look in the Search Information section at the top of the
Search page. Sort By is at the bottom of the center column.
Click on the down arrow to the right of the field to see the list of options.
How is the Agency field with 3-letter
codes useful to me?
Landstar identifies agents by Agency Code. If you find you have great success with a particular agent who provides you with quality freight on a frequent basis:
-
You can search for that agent's loads specifically. Select his or her Agency
Code letters from the drop-down list next to the Agency field on
the Search page.
-
You can quickly locate that agent's phone number. Type his or her Agency Code into the Agent Directory. To find that directory, click on the
Agent Directory button at the top of the Home page.
-
Type the Agency Code into the box under the label "Terminal Code." The system should display basic agency information.
-
Click on the icon in the Details column; it looks like a small
gray sheet of paper. Info such as local phone number, toll-free phone number,
and Web site address (if available) displays.
This type of load requires both the carrier and the driver of the load to have special Canadian Customs clearance to move a shipment inbound to the United States.
What is the difference between
Trailer Type and Trailer Group?
Trailer Type refers to very specific trailer categories. Trailer Group includes various types within a group. To find a complete list of Trailer Type and Trailer Group descriptions:
-
Click on the Help button at the bottom of the Search page.
-
Click on the underlined Trailer Groups and Types list link.
What are Recently Posted Loads?
These are loads that have been posted within the last three hours.
Why are some loads marked with a red
asterisk [
*
] ?
A red asterisk indicates that this particular load was posted within the last three hours. Once a load has been active past the three-hour mark, the red asterisk goes away.
Why is there a column for Company if
these are Landstar-only loads?
As a contract carrier, it's important for you to know which Landstar company is affiliated with the agent you contact to discuss booking freight to your hauling equipment.
Gemini, Inway, Ligon, and Ranger loads are available to contract carriers that sign the Transportation Brokerage Agreement that the Landstar Carrier Group provides.
Global Logistics loads require the contract carrier to sign a Transportation Brokerage
Agreement with Landstar Global Logistics, Inc.
Please click on the Get Qualified button at the top of the Home
page for more information.
Why is the 3-letter Agency Code
highlighted and underlined?
This means the Agency Code is a link to more information. Click on the underlined Agency Code in the Agency column of your results list. A Details page will display load details such as commodity and dimensions; information you need to make a good decision about the load you're considering.
How can I find out more details about
a load?
Click on the underlined, 3-letter Agency Code in the Agency column of your results list. A Details page will display load details such as commodity and dimensions; information you need to make a good decision about the load you're considering.
What is the Dist column for?
The miles displayed in the Dist column are straight-line, crow-fly
miles. They are computed using a mathematical formula based on the
longitude and latitude of the search city/state and the city/state(s)
on the load.
What do those abbreviations in the Trl
Type column mean?
Here's how to find a complete list of Trailer Group and Trailer Type descriptions:
-
Click on the Help button at the bottom of the Search page.
-
Click on the underlined Trailer Groups and Types list link.
What is the LD column for?
LD stands for Load, and the letter in that column indicates whether the load is a full truckload or less than a truckload.
-
L
= Less than Truckload (LTL)
-
T = Truckload
How are the miles shown on the Details
page determined?
The miles displayed are the miles from Origin to Destination that were provided by the agent when the load was entered into the system.
Why is there a load on my results
list that has an outdated Date Posted and Pick-Up Date?
Check the Details page for a Comments field with notations like Daily or Weekly Lane Activity; this lets you know you're looking at an ongoing, repeat load posting. If you don't see a Comments field with this type of notation, assume that the Landstar agent has not yet deleted the out-of-date posting, and bypass that load.
To find the Details page:
-
Click on the underlined, 3-letter code in the Agency column on
your results list.
